Irene Vlissides Levy
Attorney | CPA
Irene Levy is an attorney and CPA who specializes in estate planning and administration in addition to income, estate, and gift tax planning for high net-worth individuals and their related businesses, trusts, and families.
Irene was born and raised in northern Virginia and attended the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA. She received a BS in Commerce (accounting concentration) and an MS in Accounting (tax concentration) and is a licensed CPA in Virginia.
Irene began her professional career in the tax department of KPMG, Washington, DC. She advanced quickly by providing thoughtful, client-centered tax planning and compliance services to individuals, corporations, trusts, professional service firms, and corporate executive groups. Irene left KPMG as a Senior Manager to pursue the opportunity to build a combination tax law and accounting practice with her mentor, Anne Stone.
The practice was organized into two businesses, a law firm and an accounting firm. Irene continued to provide tax consulting and compliance services to most of her former KPMG clients through the CPA firm. Importantly, she also gained valuable legal experience by supporting the drafting and review of estate planning documents in the law practice. This inspired Irene to pursue her law degree at night at George Mason University Law School while working full-time. Irene graduated sixth in her class and was published in the George Mason Law Review (see “Estate of Clack v Commissioner: An End to the Conflict over Contingent QTIP Elections?”, 6 GEO. MASON L. REV 163 (1997).
After being admitted to the Virginia bar, Irene accepted a position as Attorney-Advisor to the Honorable Renato Beghe of the United States Tax Court. Irene provided legal research and writing support to the judge, including reviewing trial records, researching legal issues, and drafting opinions. Her main project was a multi-year gift and estate tax valuation case involving several family.
